FishRadar: Fishing Forecast Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how FishRadar: Fishing Forecast ("FishRadar", "we", "us") processes information in its iOS, Android, and web experiences.
1. Information We Process
- Location: when you grant permission, precise location may be used while the app is in use to center the map, show your position, calculate distances to nearby spots, retrieve location-based forecasts, and save a personal spot. FishRadar does not request background or always-on location access.
- Account information: if you sign in using email, Google, or Apple, we may process your email address, display name, authentication provider, and app-specific user ID. Authentication credentials are handled by Firebase and the selected sign-in provider; FishRadar does not receive your Google or Apple password.
- App data: favorites, saved locations, profile preferences, map style, language, units, and similar settings used to personalize the app.
- Community content: if you share a catch report, FishRadar may process the photo, fish species, spot or area, note, display name, likes, reports, and moderation status connected to that post.
- Purchase and entitlement data: product ID, transaction or purchase token, subscription status, renewal or expiration information, and an account-linking identifier used to validate Premium. Apple and Google process payment details; FishRadar does not receive your full payment-card information.
- Technical data: service providers may automatically process IP address, device or operating-system information, request timestamps, and diagnostic or security logs when delivering hosting, authentication, maps, weather, purchases, or advertising.
- Support data: if you contact support, we process the information you include in your email or deletion request.
2. Why We Use Data
- To show the map and nearby fishing spots.
- To power sign-in, favorites, saved locations, and optional cloud sync.
- To publish, display, moderate, and protect community catch reports.
- To remember your app preferences across sessions.
- To offer, validate, restore, and protect Premium subscriptions.
- To prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized subscription sharing.
- To respond to support and account-deletion requests.
3. Where Data Is Stored
- On your device: guest data, favorites, saved locations, session state, subscription state, and preferences may be stored in browser or app local storage.
- In Firebase: account state and synced app data may be stored in Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore so account-based features can work across sessions.
- In Firebase Storage: community photos may be stored so they can be shown in the community feed.
- Through service requests: coordinates or map areas may be sent to the relevant map, weather, or backend provider when necessary to return requested results. These providers include Open-Meteo and Overpass; an optional Google Places layer may also be enabled in production if configured.
4. Sharing, Selling, and Advertising
- FishRadar does not sell personal data.
- The free version may display ads where advertising is enabled. Google Mobile Ads may process device identifiers, IP address, ad interactions, and diagnostic data according to your consent choices and applicable law. Premium is intended to remove FishRadar ads.
- We do not currently use a separate third-party analytics SDK to build advertising profiles. App stores and infrastructure providers may provide aggregated operational or sales reports.
5. Data Retention
- Local app data remains on a device until it is cleared, the app is uninstalled, or the relevant in-app deletion or reset action is completed on that device.
- Synced cloud data remains available until you delete your FishRadar account or request deletion through the support channel listed below.
- Purchase records are also retained by Apple or Google under their own policies. We may retain limited transaction, security, fraud-prevention, or legal records where required.
6. Account and Data Deletion
You can request deletion in two ways:
- In-app: Profile > Delete account
- Outside the app: email cengizhanlabs@gmail.com with the subject line Delete my FishRadar account
More detail is available on the Account Deletion page.
Deleting a FishRadar account does not cancel an Apple App Store or Google Play subscription and does not automatically create a refund. Subscriptions must be managed separately through the store account used for purchase.
7. Security
FishRadar uses HTTPS and the security controls provided by its infrastructure and service providers. No system can guarantee absolute security, but we aim to minimize access to data and only use data needed for the app to work.
8. Service Providers
- Google Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Firebase Storage
- Apple Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In
- Apple App Store and Google Play for purchases and subscription management
- Apple Maps or Google Maps, depending on platform
- Open-Meteo and Overpass API for forecast and map-related information
- Vercel for website, API, and backend hosting
- Google Mobile Ads, if advertising is enabled in the distributed build
9. International Processing
Providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on provider safeguards and applicable transfer mechanisms.
10. Your Choices
- You may deny or later disable location permission in device settings.
- You may use guest mode without creating a FishRadar account.
- You may sign out, delete your account, or request deletion by email.
- You may manage subscription renewal directly in the Apple App Store or Google Play.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy when the app, providers, or legal requirements change. The current version and update date will remain available on this page.
